Things to study in Computer Engineering

Computer engineering is all about the study of developing computer hardware components, new-fangled software and communication systems. In fact, in Computer Engineering you will come to learn computer applications, testing and designing of various computer components. Besides, the studies involved in it include both electrical engineering and computer science. You will be required to study both the things and you must not forget that your knowledge of mathematics will play a very important role, so you must be good at mathematics.

Basically computer engineers are of tow types: one who deals with computer hardware components are called a computer hardware engineer and one who deals with the programming part of the computer such as developing software is termed as a computer software engineer.

Eligibility: Students willing to pursue a career in Computer Engineering are required to have a strong base in both science and mathematics and science. As goes with science, you must be good at chemistry and physics.

The degree you are required to obtain to be a computer engineer is B.E / B.Tech/M.E or you should have in any case a diploma in Computer Engineering.

The educational eligibility required for a BE/B.Tech in Computer Engineering is 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). The eligibility required for Diploma in Computer Engineering is 10 + 2 with Science Subjects.

Duration: BE / B.Tech in Computer Engineering is a 4 year program with 8 semesters. But the Diploma in Computer Engineering is only a 3 year program. If you go for ME/ M.Tech, it will be 2 years with 4 semesters.

Career Options:

Computing professionals work for a very large domain involving IT applications such as research, academia, industry, private, government, and business organizations. So after the successful completion of the course, you can work in domains like Artificial Intelligence, Computer Design and Engineering, Computer Architecture, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Theory, Operating Systems and Networks, Software Applications and the like.
